The Daily Gratitude

April 5, 2009, I am grateful for:

  • A Renewed Commitment to Health. Following my five-day Vernal Equinox juice feast, I immediately fell off the raw bandwagon to placate a dairy addiction which returned with a vengeance.  I have been putting a lot of pressure on myself lately to figure out my future and that stress manifested itself into feeding my feelings with increasing urgency until I returned to my comfort food of ice cream for dinner.  It was like I was having Opposite Day in the world of conscious eating.  Shook it off this weekend and now back on track to optimum health! Yayayay.
  • My first New York Thai Green Coconut! Related to the above.  Until today, I’ve only enjoyed freshly open pipas in Costa Rica.  Yesterday, however, as I was walking home from service, I came across my long forgotten favorite Chinatown fruit stands.  While getting organic can be hit and miss - I have seen the stray pint of Big Organic Driscolls straw/rasp/blackberries for $1.50 - today I bought my first thai coconut for $2.  I had to snatch it out of the vendor’s hands before she machete’d it herself.  I spent this morning twacking at it until I hit electrolyte gold.  I drank it for breakfast and scooped out the jelly as well.  I might have to return for five more coconuts to have each morning following my renewed morning gym routine.  Note to self: does not taste good mixed with Maca.

  • Homemade Raw Chocolate. Using ingredients I got from Chocolate Girl, I made my own raw chocolate this afternoon.  Perhaps that’s an overstatement: the end product was more like raw fudge that I licked off spoons and ladles until it was all in my belly.  Nom nom nom.  Please note this is further evidence of me being a Lazy Raw Foodie.  I could have gotten vegan chocolate if I just stepped out my house, but at that point, I didn’t wanna and was forced to improvise in the kitchen.
  • Renewed Commitment to Exercise. I went again in spite of seeing That Guy I Once Dated on the treadmill yesterday.  (I will leave the description at that for all parties involved.)  That’s some perseverance, y’alls.
  • Nope, Still Not Over Brian Conley Yet. Obsessed. It’s not every day you encounter a conscious Raw Yogi Male Surfer who looks yummy to boot.  And I’m glad y’all aren’t liking my posts on him.  You can have Jason Mraz while this one’ll be my little sleeper crush. </end crushspeak>
