Sorry if it’s quiet this week, folks.  I am currently in Southern California.  Roadtripped down yesterday, am on the woodsy trails today, and will be by the beach this weekend.
It’s fitting that my host this week is Taiwan Daniel.  We met 5 years ago, at a Princeton-in-Asia New Fellow Orientation, where he received his nickname as one of two teachers based on the Renegade Chinese Province.  When I visited him that December, he initiated me into the world of Josh Schwartz programming by showing me his ‘Best of’ Episodes of The O.C. Season 1.  Depraved that I was of Western culture, I immediately got addicted.
So now he’s welcoming me to the Real O.C., bitch.  Har.
In bizarro news, Dalian, the city I lived in that year, has recently got a lot of attention as the site for Summer Davos 2009.  While livable and well economically positioned, Dalian is not the first city that comes to mind for a visit or long-term stay.  I am a Yunnan Province girl through and through (it’s true! my grandfather once a high ranking official in the Ministry of Agriculture in Kunming, its capital!).
For recent Kunming adventures around the internetz, you can watch Kevin Rose’s tea videos. The second one is ah-mazing.  Those fields, that sky.  I wish I could convert my iMovie DVD video of China 2004-05 to quicktime for online consumption…
